Having a motorcycle stolen is a hugely traumatic experience for owners but this story may brighten hopes for victims in the future.

A Ducati 899 Panigale stolen from south London was recovered in Lithuania just 48 hours after the incident took place thanks to the Bike Trac security device.

Using data from the GPS system and help from Interpol (International Criminal Police Organisation) the bike was able to be recovered.

The £12,500 bike had only been launched at the end of 2013 and its retrieval will came as a huge relief to the owner who will be reunited with this much sought-after model.

Despite crossing the English Channel before UK Police could intercept it, the crims were followed across six countries until they were finally apprehended in Lithuania.

Speaking about the retrieval operation Bike Trac's Bill Taylor said: "With the help of Interpol, local Lithuanian authorities swooped in and within an hour we had confirmation of the bike's safe recovery."
