The Ducati 899 Panigale was revealed yesterday (9 September) at the VW Group Night in Frankfurt, Germany.

The unveiling was made by Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, just ahead of the IAA International Motor Show which begins on 12 September.

We reported yesterday morning that the bike was expected to be revealed on 12 September, after a press meeting was organised in Bologna, Italy.

However, the early reveal of the 899 Panigale suggests a preview of things to come, with the rest of the 2014 Ducati range expected to be unveiled within the next couple of weeks.

The new superbike is being described as a 'Supermid' version of the award-winning 1199 Panigale, and is being considered a flagship model

Ducati had been keeping quiet about the 2014 models that it had been producing, but a recent picture that was believed to be the new 899 Panigale suddenly sparked a lot of speculation about the bike, and perhaps convinced Ducati to bring forward the unveiling to an earlier date.

Some of the bikes features include Engine Brake Control, Ducati Traction Control and triple stage ABS.

The current colour options for the bike are Ducati red or Arctic white, and the bike has a dry weight of 169kg, with a good power-to-weight ratio.

The bike will be available in the UK from November, and with prices starting at £12,495.
