While he may have previously starred alongside Hollywood sirens like Emma Stone and Christina Hendricks, Ryan Gosling is preparing to hit silver screens alongside an altogether different co-star - a motorcycle.

And although the Gangster Squad star has previously played murderers, drug addicts and a man who is passionately in love with an inflatable doll, none of these roles are likely to have prepared him for the challenge offered by a motorbike.

Fortunately, the production team behind upcoming crime drama flick The Place Beyond the Pines were able to recruit some top-notch co-stars to go alongside Gosling, with the trailer for the film boasting the presence of a Honda XR650R and Suzuki DR-Z400.

The film itself has already garnered praise from those critics who were lucky enough to preview it at the recent Toronto Film Festival.

With some suggesting that the film could do for bikes what Drive did for cars, fans will no doubt be keen to see the film when it comes out in April.
