The King of Rock and Roll was well-known for living life in the fast lane, so it comes as no great surprise to even those unfamiliar with him, that Elvis Presley owned a customised motorcycle.

Recently added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio, the trike features alongside a white suit worn when Elvis performed "If I Can Dream" on television, military tokens from his time in the army, and a selection of opulent jewellery.

Built in 1973 by Ed Roth - a key figure in Kustom Kulture's hot-rod movement - the motorcycle, known as an 'American Beetle' is the first example of a Volkswagen trike.

Producing 36hp from a 1957 Beetle engine, the three-wheeler features a four-speed manual gearbox, VW independent rear suspension, rear-mounted drum brakes, Honda front-forks and 5lbs of lead to keep it balanced.

Part of a celebratory show as opposed to an auction, the exhibition updates it memorabilia every two-years, acquiring artefacts from the late-star's Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.
