Ducati's 899 Panigale rumoured to debut in Spain

With rumours of Ducati's new model on the rise, the only thing we can be sure of is that the Italian company will be bringing a new bike to a track in Spain, in roughly two months.

Viewing Ducati's existing lineup and considering other rumours, we are more likely to see an update or addition to the Ducati 899 Panigale, perhaps something similar to the "S" type.

The rumours aren't that crazy; it wouldn't be unheard of for the two-year-old 899 to get an update. The model is perfect for an on-track debut and there is a £2,751 gap to bridge between the 899 (£9,596) and base model 1299 (£12,348).

The considerable gap between the two models is perfect for a £10,879 Panigale alternative, which could fill a void for enthusiasts. Also, it would be an addition to the more premium components from the factory, which helped Ducati in the past.

Similar to the "RC" version of the MV Agusta F3 rumour, we are waiting for one of the companies to take the first shot by introducing electronic suspension, or semi-active suspension, to the supersport sector.

Also expected, is for Ducati to add forged aluminum wheels to the bike and some variation of a "Corse" kit that would involve an exhaust and other track-oriented features, which is seen on the Ducati Panigale R.

A September update seems a lot more likely than the launch of a new model, since a bike similar to the updated 899 Panigale would get lost among the hype of the EICMA show. With an early-autumn release, the model would get more attention and also leaves room for a big Ducati announcement in November.

This is just a rumour, but we don't have to wait long for confirmation; the bike is speculated to be launched in two months. For now, all we can do is wait.
