Tyco Suzuki rider Guy Martin will be taking part in the 24 Hour Le Mans final World Endurance Championship (WEC) later this month, it has been announced.

The race will take place on 21 September in France, and Guy will be racing as part of the R2CL Suzuki team.

The 31-year-old said: "To get a chance to do some World Endurance racing down in France is mega."

"It's something I always believed would be beneficial and a lot more interesting for me than general short circuit stuff. I'm mega-chuffed and the drive to France should be a decent road trip."

Guy won a hat-trick of races at the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix this year and will have a busy week ahead when he goes to France straight after the Scarborough Gold Cup which takes place this weekend (14-15 September).

Guy's involvement in the WEC is currently a one-time appearance, but his Tyco Suzuki team manager Philip Neill believes a permanent deal could be possible.

"At this stage it's a one-off appearance for Guy in WEC, although there is already sufficient interest in making this a permanent arrangement for Guy in 2014," he said.
