British rider Scott Redding will be riding with Gresini Honda for his rookie MotoGP season in 2014.

The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the satellite team, and he is expected to ride the Honda RCV1000R which was tested by former MotoGP champion Casey Stoner during the summer break.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Redding said: "It's definitely the right step for me. I've got to look to my future and I think to go with Honda is good."

Redding's Moto2 rival Pol Espagaro will also be making the jump to MotoGP next season, and he has announced he would be replacing CalCrutchlow in the Yamaha Tech 3 team.

Despite the announcement of his new team, the British rider has said that his focus for now is on winning the Moto2 championship, including a good performance on his home circuit at Silverstone this weekend (30 August - 1 September).

Redding is the last Brit to win a British motorcycle Grand Prix race, when he won in the 125cc class at Donnington in 2008, and was only 15 years old.

Gresini Honda has had mixed luck so far this season, with rider Alvaro Bautista currently sitting in eighth place and performing consistently, whilst Bryan Staring is currently in 25th place with only two points.
