An electric motorbike has set a new record for the fastest time on the Pike's Peak Hill Climb course.
Lightning Motorcycles' FIM eRoadRacing model beat off competition from a host of gas-powered bikes to set a record time at the event.
It is the same machine that will be entering the FIM eRoadRacing World Cup next month.
The company's solar-powered motorcycle carries on the strong reputation that Lightning has had within the electric bike world.
It currently holds the land speed title for fastest production electric motorcycle after it reached 215 mph, combined with a fast run of 218 mph, at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Richard Hatfield, chief executive officer and founder of Lighting Motorcycles, said: "This is the first time in history that an electric bike has beaten top gas bike competitors on the same playing field."
The FIM eRoadRacing World Cup is due to kick off in Valencia on 14 July and will see all the best in electric motorcycles compete against each other.
